COMMUNICATE UNDER PRESSURE

Brilliant ideas don’t speak for themselves.

You know your work. The problem shows up when you have to say it out loud.

In the moment, your thinking speeds up and your words fail you. You reach for your point, and instead you lose your place long enough for the moment to pass.

Then someone else with a worse idea speaks with more control and takes the time that should have been yours.

This has nothing to do with your intelligence. It is about how you think and speak under pressure. So if your work matters, so does the way you communicate it.

ABOUT ME

Hi. I’m Dane McFarlane.

I work with technical experts who want their communication to reflect their thinking.

My career spans technical fields in government (City of Adelaide, Trade and Investment) and startups (Stone & Chalk). I am also the founder of Bearcage Collective, and former Artistic Director of On The Fly, South Australia’s largest improv theatre.

Through this, I help people organise their thinking, speak with confidence, and hold their ground under pressure so their ideas land when it matters most.

Dane McFarlane is a speaker and corporate communication trainer.

WHAT YOU GET WITH ME

Interactive

Participants do the work in the room. Repetition until the shift is felt, not just understood.

Expertise

Feedback happens in the moment – not a debrief after the fact. Faster, more durable results.

Results

Fun without losing focus. High standards and psychological safety should not be opposites.

CORPORATE WORKSHOPS

Think and speak clearly under pressure.

These workshops are for people who already know their field and need their communication to match it.

Participants learn how to organise their thinking, explain complex ideas, and respond to questions without losing control.

The result is stronger meetings, clearer decisions, and more confident communication with stakeholder, and teams.

Delivery is hands-on, using improv-informed exercises and live coaching. People practise in real time, receive direct feedback, and leave with skills they can use immediately.

KEYNOTE SPEAKING

Talks your audience will talk about.

These talks show what makes communication land, especially under pressure.

Audiences learn to think clearly, simplify complex ideas, respond in the moment, and speak in a way that earns attention and trust.

Grounded in storytelling, performance, and live training, the content is practical and usable straight away. People leave with clear tools they can apply in meetings, presentations, and leadership moments.

Ideal for organisations that want sharper thinking, clearer communication, and stronger impact across their teams.
